Terms of At-Will Employment
In all cases, employment at Angelus Home Health is "at-will". This means that either the employee or the Agency may terminate employment at any time and for any reason, with or without cause or notice. No employee of Angelus Home Health can change the nature of the at-will relationship except the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors can change the at-will relationship only by a written agreement signed by the Board of Directors and the employee.
Employment Procedure
Step 1
Each applicant is required to complete an application form that outlines his/her interest, education, skills, and qualifications that are relevant for the available job opening. An applicant may submit a resume, but all applicants must complete and sign the Agency's application form.
Step 2
Pre-employment interview shall be conducted to elicit more information about the applicant's interests, experiences, education, and qualifications in relation to the requirements of the available position.
Step 3
Evaluation of each applicant's application form shall be based upon a relative comparison to the qualifications of other applicants. Each applicant shall receive a rating based upon the comparative evaluation.
Step 4
After the completion of the competency tests and evaluations, selection shall be based upon the applicant's results. The selected applicant shall be advised to report for a final interview.
Step 5
During the final interview, the terms of employment shall be discussed and agreed upon. Employment with the Agency as an employee or contractor shall be contingent upon completion and/or submission of the following documents:
Employment Health Requirement
Health examination must be performed within six months prior to employment or within 15 days of assuming employment with the agency. All new personnel who will be in contact with patients and rehires who have not been employed by the organization for over six (6) months, must undergo a physical screening before they are employed or re-employed. In addition, personnel must have Mantoux test or show evidence that there is no active Tuberculosis in the past 12 months (by providing a copy of a negative Mantoux/TB test taken within the past 12 months) prior to providing care. Each year, personnel with patient contact must have a Mantoux test or Tuberculosis screen. Documentation of these tests will be maintained in the personnel health file.
Orientation
All staff members employed by the Agency must complete a basic individualized orientation program and curriculum. The Director of Patient Services or its designee must provide a basic, individualized orientation program for each new staff member. The length of the orientation period shall be based upon each individual's education needs, clinical needs, and experiences.
Participation in an orientation program and curriculum shall be documented, dated, and signed in the orientation checklist form.
Additionally, on the first day a new employee reports for work, she/he shall be introduced to the supervisory staff, administrative staff, and co-workers. The new employee's immediate supervisor shall be responsible for conducting the orientation of staff and facilities. Also, the new employee shall be given an orientation of the office facilities, including bathrooms, kitchen, utilities, and location of policy manuals.
